Local Town History Website
Modbury Heritage is a website that tells the story of Modbury’s rich history since its first mention in the Domesday Book.
The Modbury Heritage website is a site that I first built in 2007 and have continued to maintain ever since. The latest incarnation was launched soon after āTime Teamā came to the town to carry out a dig in the Summer of 2023. The site is, of course, a WordPress website but wasn’t using my now preferred page builder plugin, Kadence. So whilst converting the site to use Kadence, I gave it a minor refresh.
The site contains a gallery of historical photos, as well as articles on the history of the town, a town heritage trail and searchable archives of birth and marriage records for genealogists.
I will be meeting with The Modbury History Society soon to discuss how we can further use the website to encourage more tourism to the town and I’ve got some exciting ideas which I hope the committee will like!
